NYE, on giving. it started last december when i gifted 10 pairs of TOMS for the holidays. which really meant that i gifted 20 pairs because: with every pair you purchase TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. it’s that simple & brilliant. 

my goal for 2010 was to donate a month’s salary & TOMS seemed like great place to start shop. next: the earthquake in haiti. i couldn’t be there to help but i could & did make several donations to doctors without borders. like TOMS, i believe in their mission. when it came time to clean out my closets i donated 10 bags of clothing to rosie’s place. a sanctuary for poor & homeless women. empower change. if you’ve been reading my blog for a week or a year, you probably know that i walk every morning. walking is the only way to start my day. so when i spotted the free wheelchair program on jay parkinson’s blog, i immediately donated a wheelchair. can you imagine not being to walk or get around. i can’t.

with a new year approaching & a similar goal to give - i started with a shiny new pair of TOMS. one for me. one for a child in need. donors choose is high on the list. invest in kiva on behalf of my grandmothers ruth & helen [remember their names - wait for it]. & as a thank you for being my go-to person of the year - a donation to a cause of em’s choice on behalf of her soon to arrive baby. let’s call her baby h!
